Karnataka Leads Nation in Teleconsultations

Karnataka has achieved a significant milestone, becoming the nation's top user of the e-Sanjeevani outpatient department teleconsultation service. Between 2021 and July 30, 2026, the state recorded 54.1 lakh consultations through this platform. Overall teleconsultations in Karnataka exceed 3.1 crore, with a substantial portion from Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.

The state's teleconsultation numbers have surged, now averaging between 10,000 and 12,000 daily. This growth was facilitated by strategic initiatives, including appointing nodal officers and making initial consultations mandatory for auxiliary nurse midwives. Doctors are further incentivized with payments ranging from Rs 25 to Rs 100 per consultation, depending on their specialization.

While the service has expanded, challenges remain in ensuring patients obtain prescribed medicines, especially in rural areas. Officials suggest a government-verified medicine delivery channel could complete the telemedicine loop. The e-Sanjeevani service operates daily from 8 am to 8 pm, accessible via its dedicated app.
