Karnataka Doctors to Get USG Training for Better Care
7 Feb
Summary
- MBBS doctors will receive six-month ultrasonography training.
- 114 new radiologist positions are being created.
- 11 hospitals identified as training centers across Karnataka.

To bolster maternal and child healthcare, the Karnataka government has approved a six-month ultrasonography training program for in-service MBBS doctors within the Health Department. This strategic move aims to counter the critical shortage of radiologists in district hospitals, thereby improving the quality of antenatal and postnatal services.
In conjunction with the training initiative, the state plans to establish 114 new radiologist positions. Currently, a deficit exists with only 75 radiologists serving 189 facilities. The training will adhere to the PC & PNDT Act and Training Rules, 2014.
