A new Mother and Child Super Speciality Block has been inaugurated at the Government Medical College Hospital (MCH) in Kalamassery. Health Minister Veena George stated that the State government significantly invests in providing free public healthcare.
The recently constructed block boasts 850 beds and was completed at a cost of ₹285.31 crore, focusing on delivering top-tier treatment for mothers and children.
Additional facilities opened include an ICMR-funded microbiology lab, 12 pay wards, a state-of-the-art cosmetology clinic, and a multi-parking shed, all aimed at improving patient care and hospital services.
The Minister highlighted achievements in government hospitals, such as bone marrow transplants and cancer research, emphasizing free treatment for rare childhood diseases up to age five.
