Emergency medical services in Jharkhand are poised for significant enhancement with the upcoming deployment of 237 new ambulances within the next two months. These modern vehicles will replace outdated units and are equipped with GPS and tracking systems to optimize monitoring, coordination, and response times.
This upgrade was announced during a state-level briefing by the National Health Mission, which also highlighted ongoing health schemes. Ambulance and hearse services will continue to operate separately, with two hearse vehicles allocated per district.
In addition to ambulance services, plans are underway to expand Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) from the current 30 to 100, extending healthcare to remote areas. A mass drug administration program for filariasis is scheduled statewide from February 10 to February 25, with assurances of no side effects from the medications.
Furthermore, a special campaign targeting leprosy will run from January 30 to February 13. These initiatives underscore the mission's commitment to public awareness, ensuring beneficiaries access intended health program benefits. The Ayushman Bharat-Chief Minister Abua Health Security Scheme has registered over 4.18 lakh cases between February 11, 2025, and January 20, 2026.
