Jesy Nelson's twin daughters, Ocean and Story, are set to undergo surgery to change their feeding tubes due to discomfort. The twins, now 14 months old, were previously diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) Type 1.
In addition to the feeding tube surgery, one of Nelson's daughters, Story, has been diagnosed with scoliosis. This condition, an abnormal curvature of the spine, will necessitate spinal surgery every six months.
Nelson stated that the SMA diagnosis presents a never-ending, life-changing situation. Her new documentary, 'Jesy Nelson: Life Changing,' premiered on Prime Video on Friday and aims to provide a look into their daily lives.
Earlier this week, the government announced that all babies born in England will be screened for SMA from birth, beginning later this year, following Nelson's advocacy.
