Jersey GPs Miss 7,300 Hospital Letters
16 Jul
Summary
- Around 7,300 hospital letters were potentially not received by GPs.
- The issue stems from a third-party software connection problem.
- No patient data was lost during the computer system malfunction.

Approximately 7,300 hospital letters may not have reached their intended General Practitioners (GPs) in Jersey due to a recent computer issue. Officials have stated that roughly 27% of all discharge letters, crucial for informing a patient's GP about their hospital visit, issued since February could be affected.
This problem is reportedly connected to third-party software that bridges hospital and GP computer systems. Health Minister Tom Binet assured the public that no sensitive patient data was compromised or lost as a result of the malfunction.
Binet further communicated that health department personnel and GPs are collaborating closely to rectify the situation promptly. He also extended an apology for any distress or inconvenience this incident might cause to patients and healthcare providers.
