Janet Ellis, the mother of popular singer Sophie Ellis Bextor, has bravely shared her experience of having ten miscarriages in just five years. Between the ages of 35 and 40, Ellis suffered these devastating losses, yet received no medical explanation for why they occurred. She explained that after three miscarriages, she became a patient at a clinic, but doctors could never identify the cause.

Ellis deliberately withheld this information from her famous daughter, Sophie, for many years. She stated her primary reasons were not wanting to 'burden' Sophie or to discourage her from having children herself.
