Health authorities in East Singhbhum have ramped up dengue surveillance and preventive actions following the confirmation of two cases in Jamshedpur. The affected individuals, an 11-year-old boy from Sitaramdera and a 28-year-old nurse, are currently undergoing treatment and close monitoring at Tata Main Hospital.
In response to these cases, multipurpose workers have been deployed to conduct thorough door-to-door inspections. Their primary objective is to locate and eliminate potential breeding grounds for mosquitoes, such as accumulated water in coolers, flower pots, and discarded tires. Areas where dengue has been reported are receiving special attention, alongside routine monitoring of other vulnerable localities.
Officials emphasize the importance of public cooperation during the peak dengue season, which spans from July to October. Residents are advised to diligently prevent water stagnation and maintain general cleanliness. The use of mosquito repellents is also recommended. Between January and July of this year, over 4,000 dengue tests were conducted in East Singhbhum, with these two cases being the only positive detections recorded prior to the current intensified efforts.
