Jaipur is among 191 Indian cities identified by the Union health ministry as being at high risk for seasonal disease outbreaks during the upcoming monsoon and post-monsoon months. Eight other districts in Rajasthan—Alwar, Barmer, Bikaner, Dausa, Sriganganagar, Jaipur Rural, Kota, and Udaipur—also received this designation due to reporting over 500 dengue cases in at least one year between 2023 and 2025. This advisory follows India Meteorological Department projections indicating moderate to strong El Nino conditions, which could escalate risks for various diseases.
The Rajasthan health department has initiated enhanced preparedness measures in these identified districts, including Jaipur. Actions prioritize vector control, elimination of mosquito breeding sites, and fogging operations. The department is also focusing on ensuring safe drinking water, inspecting food hygiene, and conducting public awareness campaigns regarding disease prevention and early symptom reporting.
District authorities are mandated to maintain sufficient stocks of essential medicines and emergency supplies. Hospitals are preparing for potential surges by ensuring backup power, safe water, dedicated wards, and adequate resources for essential services during emergencies. Disease surveillance has been intensified through the Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP), with Rapid Response Teams on standby to address potential outbreaks.
