Summary
- Jacinda died from a rare mucinous ovarian adenocarcinoma subtype.
- Her brother is organizing a poker night to fund research.
- She battled the disease for three and a half years.

A Sydney woman, Jacinda Manettas, lost her life to mucinous ovarian adenocarcinoma, a rare cancer accounting for only three percent of cases. Her three-and-a-half-year fight began in February 2023 with a cyst on her left ovary.
Despite initial surgery and chemotherapy, the cancer proved resistant and recurred in her right ovary by January 2025. It later spread to her abdomen, with a targeted drug eventually losing effectiveness.
Jacinda and her brother sought treatment options in the US, and were encouraged to join an Australian clinical trial. Sadly, she suffered a stroke due to cancer complications and passed away before the trial could begin.
Her brother, Andrew Manettas, has initiated the Jacinda Royale, a poker night on November 7, to raise funds for mucinous ovarian cancer research. He emphasizes the need for targeted investment in solving this challenging disease.
