IVF Provider's Embryo Shipping Sparks Patient Panic

Patients at a Chicago-area IVF provider, Kindbody, have expressed distress and confusion over a recent agreement to transfer frozen embryos to a storage facility located more than 1,000 miles away in Massachusetts. A lack of clear communication, with some patients not receiving timely notifications via email or their patient portal, has heightened anxiety.

Kindbody confirmed the agreement with New England Cryogenic Center for long-term cryogenic storage, stating that all patients should have received notifications. The company assured that patients undergoing procedures through the end of August will retain their frozen tissues in Chicago. For those planning transfers more than 90 days out, Kindbody will cover the transportation costs of embryos to the Massachusetts facility. Patients also have the option to refuse the transfer and select an alternative storage location at their own discretion.
