Summary
- Hospital failed inspection, rated inadequate by CQC.
- Injuries occurred from restraint use on young patients.
- Hospital caters to adolescents aged 12-17 with mental health conditions.
A hospital dedicated to mental health care for children and adolescents is now under special measures after a critical inspection. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated Ivetsey Bank Hospital, located near Wheaton Aston, as inadequate, citing five breaches of regulations.
Concerns were particularly raised after young patients who had self-harmed sustained injuries due to restraint methods employed at the facility. The inspection occurred in March and April.
Active Care Group, the owner of Ivetsey Bank Hospital, expressed disappointment with the findings but stated they fully recognized the issues. The hospital provides care for individuals aged between 12 and 17 who have a diagnosed mental health condition.
