Indore has achieved its 70th successful organ donation, a testament to the community's generosity and compassion. A recent case involved Sunil Kumar Tamrakar, a 56-year-old utensil businessman from Katni, who was undergoing treatment for a brain haemorrhage at CHL Care Hospital. Following the confirmation of his brain stem death by medical boards, his family, inspired by a friend's prior organ donation, made the decision to donate his organs.
Tamrakar's wife, advocate Trupti Tamrakar, along with other family members, consulted with Muskan Group volunteers and gave their consent. Although heart and lung donations were deferred due to technical reasons, his liver was successfully transplanted into a 58-year-old male patient at the same hospital. His eyes and skin were also retrieved by the MK International Eye Bank and Choithram Skin Bank for transplantation.
In a separate act of kindness, a Malviya Nagar family donated the eyes and skin of their 11-year-old son, Parth Pawar, after his sudden demise. His eye donation will restore vision to two visually impaired individuals, and his skin will assist patients with severe burns. These donations underscore Indore's growing commitment to saving lives through organ donation.
