In India, the situation is particularly dire. The country's diabetic population, currently at 77 million, is expected to skyrocket to 134 million by 2045. To address this looming epidemic, the Department of Endocrinology at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, in collaboration with the Association of Diabetes (young) in Tricity (ADITI) and the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI), organized a special awareness program for patients living with diabetes.
Experts stressed the importance of monitoring, timely treatment, and adopting a healthy lifestyle to manage this condition, which can lead to severe complications if left unchecked. Doctors discussed the various types of diabetes, their symptoms, and the crucial role of insulin therapy. They also emphasized the need for self-care, preventive foot care, and vigilance against hypoglycemia and diabetic foot ulcers.
