A significant five-day workshop on Health Technology Assessment (HTA) between India and Sri Lanka formally began in New Delhi. This event marks a key step in bilateral healthcare diplomacy and knowledge exchange, highlighting India's support for regional health initiatives. The Department of Health Research, alongside the Ministry of External Affairs, is hosting this crucial workshop.
The primary objective is to establish a strategic pathway for advancing and institutionalizing Health Technology Assessment practices within Sri Lanka. Officials emphasized the role of HTA in ensuring cost-effective and evidence-based health interventions. The workshop will cover essential topics like HTA frameworks, governance, methodologies, pricing, and procurement.
Discussions will also focus on identifying collaborative opportunities to strengthen HTA capacities and systems in both countries. India has established Health Technology Assessment in India (HTAIn) to facilitate transparent, evidence-informed decision-making, collating and generating evidence on healthcare technologies and programs.
