India Launches Nationwide HPV Vaccine Drive

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the nationwide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign from Ajmer, Rajasthan. This initiative aims to protect adolescent girls from cervical cancer, which is the second most common cancer among women in India. The campaign targets eligible girls aged 14 and 15 years, administering the quadrivalent Gardasil-4 vaccine.
On the campaign's launch day, 188 vaccination sessions were held across Rajasthan, making over 8.32 lakh girls eligible for the single-dose injection. Health officials have emphasized the importance of this preventive measure for women's health empowerment.
Extensive training has been provided to healthcare workers, and 1,000 health institutions with established cold chain points have been designated for the vaccination drive, ensuring its smooth implementation across all districts.
