India's Cancer Cases Set to Surge by 2030

India anticipates a significant rise in cancer cases by 2030, with healthcare professionals already observing an upward trend. This increase is driven by fundamental demographic shifts, notably an aging population and extended life expectancies, which naturally elevate cancer risk as individuals age.

Rapid urbanization has introduced lifestyle changes that exacerbate cancer risks. Increased consumption of processed foods, sedentary lifestyles, higher rates of obesity, and prevalent use of tobacco and alcohol are linked to a rise in cancers such as breast, colon, and mouth cancers, even in younger demographics.

Environmental and occupational exposures, including air pollution, contaminated water, and industrial chemicals, are increasingly recognized as contributing factors to lung and head and neck cancers. In India, cancers linked to infections, such as cervical and liver cancers, remain a notable concern.
