India Boosts Medical Colleges: 118 New Campuses Added

This improvement is supported by a significant rise in the number of medical colleges, from 387 to 818 since 2014, alongside a considerable increase in both undergraduate and postgraduate seats. The government has also detailed seat additions over the last two years, adding thousands of UG and PG seats.
Looking forward, the government has approved Phase-III of a scheme to strengthen medical colleges, targeting an additional 5,000 PG seats and 5,023 MBBS seats by 2028-29. Initiatives like the Family Adoption Programme and the District Residency Programme are also being implemented to improve healthcare in rural and tribal regions.
