Summary
- Mum diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, declared cancer-free for 15 years.
- Secondary breast cancer in lungs and bones diagnosed in 2020 is incurable.
- Support charity Future Dreams provides vital community and resources.

Fiona Macrae, a London resident, received a devastating secondary breast cancer diagnosis in July 2020, marking her disease as incurable. This news came after a previous breast cancer diagnosis in February 2005, when her son Cameron was five months old.
Following her initial diagnosis, Fiona underwent chemotherapy, a mastectomy, and radiotherapy, completing treatment in December 2005. For 15 years, she remained cancer-free, witnessing her son grow and even establishing a travel insurance brand for cancer patients.
However, a persistent cough in 2020 led to scans revealing metastatic breast cancer in her lungs and bones. This second diagnosis, occurring during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, brought a new wave of isolation and fear.
In 2021, Fiona discovered Future Dreams, a charity offering crucial support for those affected by breast cancer. This organization provided a community of peers, expert assistance, and emotional solace, significantly impacting her journey.
Fiona continues to undergo immunotherapy treatment, with regular scans monitoring the cancer's progression. Her primary hope is to be present for her son Cameron's future milestones, including his university graduation in summer 2027.
