Delhi Hospital Boosts Patient Care with New Block
27 Feb
Summary
- New block significantly increases patient capacity at IHBAS.
- Specialized OPDs for neurosurgery, psychology, and more added.
- OPD area nearly doubles, easing wait times for patients.

The Delhi government-run Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS) has launched a new block aimed at significantly enhancing its outpatient department (OPD) services. Established in 1994, the institute currently sees approximately 2,500 patients daily, drawing individuals from Delhi and surrounding northern states for neurology and mental health care.
The newly inaugurated block features multiple specialized OPDs, including neurosurgery, neurology, psychology, and geriatric mental health services. It also incorporates a rehabilitation wing and expanded waiting halls, addressing the severe space constraints of the previous facility, which was built nearly three decades ago.
Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Singh stated that the OPD area has nearly doubled, which will particularly benefit patients from neighboring states who often experienced long waits. The hospital has also increased its staff to ensure the new OPD is fully operational. This expansion is expected to allow IHBAS to handle a substantially higher patient load.
