A 46-year-old woman has come forward alleging medical negligence following a hysterectomy performed on February 10. The procedure, conducted at Thrissur General Hospital, was to address heavy bleeding from a uterine tumor. During the surgery, the patient's urinary bladder was allegedly cut, leading to acute distress and persistent vomiting.
Due to the severe complications, the patient was transferred via ambulance to Jubilee Mission Hospital for emergency corrective surgery. She remained unconscious for approximately 24 hours and was unable to consume food for 11 days, experiencing significant bodily swelling. After a 24-day hospitalization, she returned home.
She is currently undergoing a recovery period of at least four months and continues to face mobility challenges. The patient, who works as a home nurse, mentioned that the doctor involved partially covered her treatment expenses. No formal complaint has been lodged to date.
