Child Dies After Injection Error at Hospital
2 Aug
Summary
- Two technicians suspended for negligence in a child's death.
- Medical superintendent removed from post following incident.
- Untrained individual administered fatal injection to child.

An investigative committee has taken action following the death of a five-year-old child at Minchinabad THQ Hospital three days prior to August 2, 2026. Two junior technicians were suspended under the Peeda Act for negligence, and the hospital's medical superintendent has been removed from his position.
The child's family claimed that Mohsin died on June 30, 2026, after receiving an anti-vomiting injection administered by an untrained private individual during a routine check-up. The three-member inquiry committee, formed by the Health CEO, determined that the junior technician on duty failed to manage the emergency patient effectively.
According to the committee's findings, a midwife received three Gravinate injections from a medical officer to administer to Mohsin and his sister. However, she handed one injection to a private trainee, who administered it without proper dilution, leading to the child's death.
Consequently, Health CEO Dr. Shaukat Ali ordered the suspension of Dispenser Abdul Razzaq and Midwife Shazia Anwar for 90 days and initiated a departmental probe. The Health secretary also removed Dr. Hasnain Shah as Medical Superintendent and reassigned him.
