Jersey Hospice Care is set to feature the 'Silent No More' garden, an initiative by The Lady Garden Foundation aimed at increasing awareness of five gynaecological cancers. This garden is designed to foster open discussions and reduce the stigma surrounding these conditions. The installation process began on Friday, May 29, 2026, with trees and plants being prepared for assembly. The main garden installation is scheduled for June 2, 2026, within the hospice grounds. The Lady Garden Foundation, a gold winner at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, has subtly incorporated designs that echo the female form. The garden specifically addresses ovarian, cervical, vulval, womb, and vaginal cancers. These cancers tragically result in 21 deaths daily in the UK. The foundation emphasizes that open conversations can lead to earlier diagnoses and save lives. This project was created in memory of Emily Plane, who passed away from ovarian cancer at age 28 in November 2023, with her mother, Penny, involved in its creation. Penny Plane expressed gratitude for the assistance from various teams in planting the garden, noting the delivery of trees and plants by Jonathan le Maistre tree surgeries Ltd for two beds near the entrance. A dedicated seating area will be established to encourage conversations about cancer.
