Allergy Alert: Mislabeled BBQ Sauce Poses Serious Risk
28 Feb
Summary
- Undeclared wheat and soy in honey barbecue sauce trigger recall.
- Mislabeled bottles shipped nationwide between July 2025 and February 2026.
- Consumers urged to discard sauce and seek refund due to allergy risk.

Savannah Bee Company is recalling its popular Honey BBQ Sauce-Mustard, as it contains undeclared wheat and soy. This oversight presents a significant risk for consumers with allergies to these common ingredients. The mislabeling was discovered when a customer reported an issue, leading to the realization that the "Honey BBQ Sauce-Mustard" was incorrectly packaged.
The affected products were distributed nationally between July 30, 2025, and February 26, 2026. Identified by lot number B1L1360525 and a best-before date of May 16, 2027, these bottles are bottled in clear glass with an orange "Honey BBQ Sauce Mustard" label. Although no illnesses have been reported, the company urges consumers to immediately dispose of the sauce and contact Savannah Bee Company for a refund.
This recall highlights the critical importance of accurate allergen labeling. Wheat and soy are among the nine major allergens in the U.S., capable of causing severe reactions. Similar incidents have occurred recently, including a recall of Junebars for undeclared milk and soy and an M&M's product recall due to packaging omissions.
While this specific honey barbecue sauce recall has not yet resulted in reported illnesses, the potential for severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, is a serious concern. Consumers are advised to exercise caution and ensure they do not consume the recalled product.
