Himachal Healthcare Gets ₹1,617 Cr Boost

The Himachal government has committed ₹1,617 crore to the first phase of a ₹3,000 crore healthcare modernization plan. This initiative is slated for implementation starting April 1 and will enhance facilities at Government Medical Colleges, Super Speciality Centres, and Adarsh Swasthya Sansthans.
Key upgrades include high-end diagnostic equipment like MRI and CT scanners, AI-enabled X-ray devices, and integrated digital health platforms. Simulation-based medical training systems will also be established to foster a tech-driven public health system.
Tertiary care services at IGMC Shimla, AIMSS Chamiana, and Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College, Hamirpur, will be expanded. This includes services like renal and bone marrow transplants, neurosurgery, and robotic-assisted surgeries, improving access to specialized treatments.
Adarsh Swasthya Sansthans will be equipped with modern diagnostic and surgical tools, including CT scanners and laparoscopic systems. The overall goal is to ensure timely specialized care, reduce referral costs, and strengthen emergency responses, particularly in remote areas.
