Hero Dog Alerts to Low Blood Sugar From Outside

A remarkable display of canine intuition saved a young child from a serious diabetic event. Ducky, a highly trained diabetic alert dog, alerted his owner, Aubrie Lewis, to her son Wells' dangerously low blood sugar levels while the child was inside his preschool in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Lewis had arrived early for pickup and was parked behind the building when Ducky, who had been resting, suddenly became alert. He followed his trained protocol, signaling a critical blood sugar fluctuation with a nose nudge. This early warning proved vital, as Wells was still significantly low when he was picked up.

Aubrie Lewis expressed immense gratitude, emphasizing Ducky's incredible training and unwavering devotion. She stated that the family is forever indebted to the dog, whose extraordinary senses protected her son from a potentially dangerous situation, even detecting the issue from outside the school premises.
