Dr. K.A. Salim, a distinguished hematologist and founder of the Department of Hematology at Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode, has passed away at his Thiruvananthapuram residence at the age of 86.
Recognized as a leading expert in the nation, Dr. Salim significantly contributed to research on blood disorders. He completed his medical education in Thiruvananthapuram before pursuing higher degrees in London, UK, and earning international fellowships.
Throughout his career, Dr. Salim served as an influential mentor to many medical professionals, working in various government medical colleges across Kerala. He also shared his expertise as an Associate Professor at King Khalid University in Saudi Arabia. His wife, Pathummal, had passed away prior to him, and he is survived by his four sons.
The funeral rites were scheduled to take place on Thursday at Juma Masjid, Petta, in the state capital.
