In a critical road safety awareness campaign organized by the orthopaedics department of King George's Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow on October 9th, 2025, doctors emphasized that wearing a helmet for two-wheeler riders and a seatbelt for car drivers is not just a legal necessity, but a life-saving measure.
The campaign, held at the department's seminar hall, highlighted the alarming statistic that each year, many deaths occur due to patients failing to reach hospitals in time or due to negligence, such as not wearing helmets and seatbelts. HOD Dr. Ashish Srivastava and Dr. Devarshi Rastogi urged citizens to prioritize safety, stressing that responsible behavior on the road ensures not only personal protection but also the well-being of loved ones.
The event included a live demonstration on how to respond at accident sites, administer first aid, and save lives during emergencies. Other senior KGMU officials, including Dr. Kumar Shantanu, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Dr. Brijmohan, and Dr. Sameer, were present to support the initiative and raise awareness about the critical importance of road safety measures.
