The Kalam Institute of Health Technology (KIHT) recently concluded its 11th International Fellowship on Health Technology Assessment (HTA). This six-day capacity-building initiative gathered healthcare professionals, clinicians, researchers, policymakers, and academicians on the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) campus.
The fellowship provided intensive training in crucial areas such as global HTA frameworks, systematic reviews, budget impact analysis, and health equity. Practical modules explored machine learning applications, decision-modelling, and causal inference through interactive case studies. This focus aims to bolster evidence-based healthcare decision-making.
Experts emphasized the necessity of robust scientific evidence for evaluating medical innovations. Dr. Jitendra Sharma of KIHT stated that technology deployment must align with public health priorities and be supported by evidence of clinical benefits, safety, and economic value. Dr. Kavita Kachroo highlighted HTA's role in assessing risks and costs for efficient resource allocation.
The program, aligned with India's HTAIn initiative, featured national and international faculty. The fellowship concluded with a campus tour and a valedictory ceremony, equipping participants with enhanced skills for informed healthcare policy.
