Haryana Health Alert: Power Strike Threatens Care
22 Oct
Summary
- Health services must maintain uninterrupted care during the power strike.
- Adequate power backup and generator rentals are mandated for facilities.
- Qualified electricians and ambulances will be on standby around the clock.
Haryana's health services are preparing for a potential disruption due to a three-day power department strike scheduled from October 22-24. Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Sumita Misra has directed all Civil Surgeons and Principal Medical Officers to ensure continuity of care.
Health institutions across the state must maintain uninterrupted emergency services, patient care, and the crucial cold chain for vaccines. Facilities are mandated to secure sufficient power backup, with immediate rental of generator sets approved. Funds for these essential expenses can be drawn from the User Money Fund.
To manage any power-related emergencies, qualified electricians will be stationed around the clock at respective district headquarters. Each health facility will designate a nodal officer to oversee emergency responses and coordinate state reporting. Furthermore, all ambulances are to be kept fully operational, with contingency arrangements in place for mutual aid with neighboring public and private hospitals.
