H1N1 Claims Second Life in Himachal Pradesh

A 64-year-old man from Bilaspur, identified as Ramashish Ram, has died in Shimla from H1N1 virus, marking the second swine flu fatality in Himachal Pradesh. He was admitted on August 13 and diagnosed with H1N1 on August 29.
Medical records indicate Ramashish Ram had severe pre-existing respiratory ailments, including interstitial lung disease and lower lobe pneumonia, which complicated his condition. Despite treatment, he passed away on August 30. Hospital officials noted that his death was influenced by these underlying conditions as well as the H1N1 infection.
Previously, a 70-year-old man from Sundernagar, who was undergoing cancer treatment in Chandigarh, also died from H1N1. Health teams have since visited his home to advise his family on precautions.
In response, health authorities have issued a public advisory. Individuals experiencing H1N1 symptoms like fever, cough, and breathing difficulties are urged to seek immediate medical care. Special caution is advised for the elderly and those with pre-existing health issues.
