- 122,960 children screened in a six-month winter pneumonia control campaign.
- No fatalities were recorded during the extensive pneumonia control campaign.

The district's health department has finalized its report on the recent winter pneumonia control campaign for children under five years old. This six-month campaign, which ran from November 12, 2025, to February 28, 2026, successfully screened 122,960 children for pneumonia.
During the campaign, health facilities treated approximately 1,102 cases of pneumococcal pneumonia and 8,853 cases of common cold and cough among children under five. Hospitals were equipped with essential medical supplies, including nebulizers and oxygen support, to manage severe cases. Fifty-four children with severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) received oxygen support under the SAANs campaign.
Preventive measures included administering Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV), pentavalent vaccines, and PCV boosters/MR vaccines to prevent measles and meningitis. Health officials reported no fatalities during this campaign, a significant achievement compared to previous years. Awareness initiatives also focused on early detection signs like rapid breathing and chest indrawing.
The health department had set a target of vaccinating 57,000 children by March 2026. Teams conducted door-to-door visits to educate families on the importance of diet and timely checkups in reducing pneumonia risk. The campaign aligns with the broader goal of reducing pneumonia-related deaths among children under five.
