Gujarat's first Assistive Technology Mart (AT Mart) was inaugurated in Nadiad on Monday, September 8, 2026. This facility, established by the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), consolidates various assistive devices for individuals with disabilities and the elderly under one roof.
The mart aims to streamline access to crucial technologies for mobility, communication, and daily tasks. Visitors can find a wide array of products, including wheelchairs, walking aids, artificial limbs, and hearing aids. Notably, the center features advanced items such as smart glasses and AI-enabled sticks capable of supporting twelve languages, alongside devices for hearing and speech impairments.
Officials highlighted the AT Mart as a vital step towards ensuring 'divyangs' and senior citizens can easily obtain necessary assistive products. The Nadiad center marks ALIMCO's second AT Mart in India, following the first launched in Kanpur. An MoU was also signed between Maa Gayatri Ortho Care and ALIMCO during the launch event.
