Guernsey Ambulance CEO to Step Down in 2026

After seven years at the helm, Mark Mapp, Chief Ambulance Officer and CEO of St John Ambulance and Rescue Service in Guernsey, has announced his resignation, effective in 2026. Mr. Mapp, who began his role in April 2019, stated that the service's current strong and stable position makes it the right time for his departure. He plans to dedicate more time to family adventures before his son embarks on his career.

Mr. Mapp expressed pride in his seven years of service to the island communities, highlighting the achievements of the ambulance service and its dedicated team. The chairman of the board, Mark de Garis, commended Mr. Mapp's significant contributions, noting his leadership through transformation, including organizational restructuring and enhancing financial stability and patient care standards.

The early announcement aims to ensure a well-planned recruitment process for a successor, allowing for a structured transition and handover. Mr. Mapp remains committed to maintaining the excellent pre-hospital service expected by the community and will support the senior leadership and operational staff during this period.
