10 Jul
Summary
- Experimental drug Ris-Rez demonstrated significant survival benefits.
- The drug targets B7H3 protein on cancer cells.
- Positive results were observed in a late-stage clinical trial.

GSK has reported encouraging outcomes from a late-stage clinical trial for its experimental drug, Ris-Rez. This investigational treatment is aimed at patients suffering from advanced or relapsed small-cell lung cancer. The trial indicated that Ris-Rez achieved statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvements in overall survival when compared against current standard care.
The drug, which GSK secured licensing rights for outside of China from Hansoh Pharma, is an antibody-drug conjugate. Its mechanism involves targeting the B7H3 protein, a molecule frequently found on the surface of cancer cells. This targeted approach is being explored for efficacy across various tumor types, including lung and prostate cancers.
This announcement follows GSK's April statement regarding another experimental targeted cancer drug, Mo-rez, also licensed from Hansoh, which the company believes holds blockbuster potential. The positive results for Ris-Rez further underscore the pharmaceutical sector's ongoing advancements in oncology.
