CS Beef Packers, LLC, based in Kuna, Idaho, has initiated a recall of approximately 22,912 pounds of raw ground beef products due to potential contamination with E. coli O145. This strain of bacteria can cause severe illness in consumers within two to eight days of exposure. The recall is classified as high or medium risk, indicating potential serious health consequences.
The affected products include three types of ground beef items, all produced on January 14, 2026. Their packaging indicates a use/freeze by date of February 4, 2026. These recalled items were distributed to distributors in California, Idaho, and Oregon, intended for foodservice locations. While no illnesses have been reported, consumers are urged to discard or return the product.
Symptoms of E. coli O145 infection can include bloody diarrhea and vomiting. This recall follows previous E. coli concerns in ground beef from Mountain West Food Group in December and a significant listeria outbreak linked to pasta products in September 2024, which resulted in multiple deaths and illnesses.
