Summary

- He is currently hospitalized, confused, weak, and has low oxygen.
- Eadie was diagnosed with incurable brain disease CTE last year.

Rugby league icon Graham Eadie has been admitted to a Gold Coast hospital following two seizures experienced this week. The 72-year-old former international player is reportedly confused, weak, and suffering from low oxygen levels.
This medical emergency follows Eadie's diagnosis last year with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), an incurable, progressive brain disease associated with repeated head trauma common in contact sports. He has been battling epilepsy and also suffered a stroke and bacterial meningitis in April of last year.
Eadie, known affectionately as 'Wombat', had recently met with former teammates before his seizures. His struggles with CTE, which he believes are linked to his rugby league career, were first shared publicly last June. The condition is characterized by the buildup of the tau protein, damaging brain cells over time.
