Hospital authorities attributed the error to a delay in processing Devnarayan's claim on the Ayushman Bharat portal. The claim closure was updated on August 6, 2026, weeks after his death, triggering the system-generated discharge message.
In response, the hospital removed the data entry operator responsible for the delay. They have also alerted the state nodal agency to cross-check deceased patient information before generating such messages, aiming to prevent similar distressing incidents.
