A four-year-old girl from East Dunbartonshire has had her life saved following a diagnosis of a brain tumour. Jessica Macrae underwent critical surgery at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.
Her parents noticed worrying changes, including headaches and coordination problems, which led to the discovery of a mass at the back of her brain. Following surgery on October 17, Jessica's recovery was challenging, requiring a shunt to drain excess fluid.
She was initially unable to move or speak and required a feeding tube. However, an intensive 13-week neuro-rehabilitation program, including physiotherapy and hydrotherapy, saw her make significant progress.
Jessica has since regained her speech, can eat independently, and her motor skills have vastly improved, enabling her to walk with stability. She is now preparing to celebrate her fifth birthday, a milestone her parents once feared she might not reach.
