Ghaziabad Hospitals Lose Ayushman Status Over Fraud
20 Aug
Summary
- 21 Ghaziabad hospitals removed from Ayushman panel.
- Hospitals failed quality standards and showed irregularities.
- Beneficiaries may have been denied free cashless treatment.

In Ghaziabad, 21 private hospitals have been removed from the Ayushman Bharat empanelment. This action was taken due to failures in meeting mandated quality standards and alleged irregularities. These issues could have led to beneficiaries being denied cashless care or forced to pay for treatments that should have been free.
The state anti-fraud unit initiated the probe after receiving complaints. Investigations revealed that the hospitals did not adhere to 35 quality standards set by the government. Common issues included refusing admission to Ayushman cardholders, demanding additional payments, and falsifying patient admission records.
Previously, the district had 84 empanelled hospitals; this number has now decreased to 63. Officials emphasize that this action is crucial to protect beneficiaries from being denied admission or charged unfairly. The Chief Medical Officer urged cardholders to report any violations to his office for investigation and necessary action.
