3 Sep
Summary
- Gaya hospitals are expanding surgical facilities to reduce patient referrals.
- Essential surgeries ranging from 36 to 70 categories will be available.
- The initiative particularly benefits low-income families seeking affordable care.
Gaya's government hospitals are enhancing their surgical capabilities to provide a wider range of essential procedures, aiming to decrease patient referrals to distant urban centers. This expansion will make between 36 and 70 categories of surgeries accessible within the district and its sub-divisions.
The Jai Prakash Narayan Sadar Hospital in Gaya is now equipped for procedures such as hydrocele, hernia, appendicitis, piles, fistula, and breast lump removals, alongside gynecological services including Caesarean sections and hysterectomies. Surgical services have also been bolstered at sub-divisional hospitals in Sherghati, Tekari, and Khizarsarai, with orthopedic services receiving additional equipment.
This strategic initiative by the health department is designed to bring specialized treatment closer to home. It is particularly poised to assist economically disadvantaged families by offering surgical options they might otherwise struggle to afford. The expansion also focuses on reducing unnecessary patient transfers, ensuring more efficient healthcare delivery.
