On June 28, Gandhinagar district launched a significant Pulse Polio National Immunisation Campaign, aiming to vaccinate 1,58,721 children aged between 0 and 5 years. The drive deploys extensive resources, including 746 vaccination booths across the district.
To ensure every child receives protection, 103 mobile teams are reaching underserved areas like brick kilns and construction sites. Five transit teams are also stationed at transport hubs to vaccinate travelling children. A total of 3,167 health workers are involved in administering the vaccine and overseeing the campaign.
Following the main vaccination day, 427 dedicated teams will conduct house-to-house surveys on June 29 and June 30. This follow-up mechanism is crucial for identifying and vaccinating any child missed during the initial phase, striving for complete immunisation coverage.
The district administration urges parents to ensure their eligible children receive the polio vaccine, reinforcing the national goal of a polio-free country with the slogan "do boond zindagi ki" (two drops of life).
