Frozen Blueberries Recalled Due to E. coli Fears
6 Jul
Summary
- GreenWise Organic IQF Blueberries recalled due to E. coli O145 reports.
- Twelve E. coli O145 cases reported between May 11 and June 5.
- Publix advises returning recalled berries for a full refund.

A recall has been initiated for GreenWise Organic IQF Blueberries, specifically 10-ounce bags identified by lot code 60401 and a best-by date of February 9, 2028. These affected packages were distributed to Publix stores across eight states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
The recall stems from reports of digestive illnesses, with twelve confirmed cases of E. coli O145 occurring between May 11 and June 5. This E. coli strain can cause severe stomach cramps, bloody diarrhea, and vomiting, with potential for serious complications like hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) in vulnerable populations.
Publix is advising customers who purchased the recalled frozen blueberries on or before July 3, 2026, to return them for a full refund or discard them. The supplier, Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A., has instructed businesses to remove the product from inventory and is investigating the source of the contamination, emphasizing food safety as a top priority.
