Dartmouth Offers Free Opioid Overdose Training
3 Aug
Summary
- Free naloxone training sessions are available to the public in August.
- A community remembrance event is scheduled for August 27th.
- Naloxone can reverse opioid overdose effects within minutes.

Residents of Dartmouth will have several opportunities in August to learn vital overdose response skills. The town is offering free naloxone training sessions designed for anyone with an opioid prescription or those who may encounter an overdose situation.
These training sessions are critical because opioid overdoses can be fatal rapidly. Naloxone, a non-addictive medication, can effectively reverse these overdose effects, providing a crucial intervention.
In addition to the training, Dartmouth will host its annual International Overdose Awareness Day Community Event on August 27th. This event includes a memorial ceremony, access to support services, and additional educational components focused on overdose prevention and response.
The remembrance event, presented in partnership with DAART, the Dartmouth Council on Aging, and The Bridge, will also feature an audio tribute honoring individuals affected by addiction and overdose. Community members can submit recordings for this tribute.
