The Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Greater Noida is currently offering free Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination to adolescent girls. This program targets girls aged 14 to 15 years and is part of a broader national effort to combat cervical cancer.
The dedicated vaccination centre at GIMS operates seven days a week, from 9 am to 2 pm, enhancing accessibility for families. Eligible recipients will receive the Gardasil-4 vaccine at no cost, provided they present their Aadhaar card and a parent's mobile number.
According to GIMS Director Dr (Brig.) Rakesh Gupta, HPV vaccination is a highly effective method for protection against the virus strains responsible for most cervical cancer cases. The campaign aims to provide readily accessible preventive healthcare services to young girls.
This initiative supports the nationwide campaign launched on February 28, which strives for the elimination of cervical cancer, a prevalent cancer among women. HPV is also linked to other cancers, including those of the throat, anus, penis, vagina, and vulva.
