29 Sep
Summary
- Free heart-health screenings were provided to daily wagers and workers.
- Screenings included blood pressure and blood sugar checks.
- Initiative aimed to bring preventive healthcare to street workers.
In observance of World Heart Day on Tuesday, police and doctors collaborated in Agra to host a free heart-health screening camp for daily wage earners and street-based workers. The event, held at the busy Talab intersection, offered screenings for essential heart health indicators such as blood pressure and blood sugar to individuals like rickshaw pullers, e-rickshaw drivers, and porters.
Medical professionals also engaged with the workers, offering vital counseling on identifying early warning signs of heart disease, the importance of seeking timely medical attention, and strategies for mitigating health risks through diet and lifestyle adjustments. This initiative proved particularly beneficial for workers who find it challenging to take time off from their demanding jobs for routine check-ups.
The program was designed to extend preventive healthcare services directly to individuals whose occupations keep them on the streets for extended periods, potentially causing them to miss early signs of illness. Hathras SP Chiranjeev Nath Sinha encouraged workers to prioritize their well-being, emphasizing that timely screenings and simple precautions are key to early problem detection.
