Heart Scare Sparks Free Health Clinic For Men
16 May
Summary
- A man's personal heart scare inspired him to create a free health clinic.
- The clinic targets men aged 40-70 registered at Oxted surgery.
- Cardiovascular disease causes 26% of all deaths in the UK.

Jeremy Schwartz, 63, from Oxted, Surrey, was inspired to create a free health clinic after a personal health scare last September. He was told he risked a fatal heart attack if he proceeded with a planned trip to Nepal. Following surgery in October 2025, Schwartz was determined to help other men in his age group. He observed that individuals can appear healthy externally while internally facing significant health risks.
Cardiovascular disease, including heart attacks, is responsible for 26% of all fatalities in the UK. Dr. David Hill, a senior partner at Oxted Health Centre, noted that men are particularly susceptible and statistically less likely to attend routine check-ups. This free clinic, a partnership involving Schwartz and specialists from Cleveland Clinic London, will serve men aged 40 to 70 registered at the Oxted surgery. The clinic is scheduled for Saturday from 09:00 BST to 15:00 BST.
