8 May
Summary
- Monthly health camps offer free OPD, antenatal screening, and gynaecological check-ups.
- Initiative encourages doctors to dedicate one day monthly for free medical service.
- Past phase in Pune provided free screening and treatment to thousands.

A new health campaign, "Jan Sehat Setu," was launched on April 10 to provide accessible healthcare services, focusing on women and pregnant mothers. The initiative aims to offer free OPD consultations, antenatal screening, and general gynaecological check-ups across various areas in Pune during its monthly health camps.
This program encourages doctors to dedicate the 9th of each month for free medical services, mirroring existing government health initiatives. The campaign's first phase, conducted in April, successfully reached thousands of patients in Pune, offering vital free screening and treatment.
Supported by numerous medical and community organizations, the initiative has been met with an encouraging response, reflecting a growing acceptance of Medical Social Responsibility. Future phases are planned to expand services to include general medicine, pediatrics, ophthalmology, and orthopedics, broadening its impact.
Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya highlighted the responsibility inherent in the medical profession, comparing the campaign's goal to the Jan Aushadhi scheme in making healthcare treatment more accessible to the public.
