Young people in north Northamptonshire are being offered free vaccinations during the upcoming Easter holidays. A series of drop-in clinics will be held in Wellingborough and Kettering specifically for children in school years 8 to 13.
The clinics, scheduled from April 7 to April 10, will provide several vital vaccines. These include the HPV vaccine, which guards against various cancers, and the MenACWY vaccine, offering protection against meningitis and septicaemia. Additionally, the MMR vaccine for measles, mumps, and rubella, along with the teenage booster for tetanus, diphtheria, and polio, will be available.
Dr. Jane Bethea, North Northamptonshire Council's director of public health, emphasized the importance of these immunizations for maintaining health and preventing serious diseases. With the UK recently losing its measles elimination status, she urged parents to utilize these clinics if their children have not yet received these crucial vaccinations. No prior booking is required, and vaccination records can be checked upon arrival at the clinics.
