- Plans include expanding cancer prevention education globally through the Belt and Road Project.
An international charitable foundation dedicated to combating cancer was officially established in Hong Kong on September 23, 2026. The ISOPT Charitable Foundation (ICF) announced plans to offer between 5,000 and 10,000 free cancer screenings to eligible Hong Kong residents identified as high-risk.
The foundation's Free Cancer Screening Support Programme will cover breast, lung, liver, and prostate cancers. Services include mammography, ultrasounds, low-dose CT scans, and specific blood tests. Potential beneficiaries will undergo risk assessments, with eligible individuals directed to screening services, potentially in Shenzhen.
Beyond its local efforts, the ICF intends to leverage the Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Campaign as a model for its Belt and Road Project for Cancer Prevention. This expansion aims to introduce cancer-prevention education and early-screening initiatives to a wider audience, including the Greater Bay Area, Belt and Road partner countries, and other developing regions.
To further its reach, ICF is developing a multilingual online health education platform featuring cancer-prevention information and expert knowledge in at least 10 languages. The foundation emphasizes the importance of early detection, noting that cancer increasingly affects younger and middle-aged individuals, highlighting the need for proactive screening before symptoms manifest.
